Serving Mankind
and responding to disaster

i-volunteers respond to natural disasters and man-made conflicts to restore communities. Many of us are trained and equipped to assist in disaster relief ranging from earthquakes to droughts; providing emergency medicine, temporary shelter, clothes food, clean water, sanitation and rebuilding infrastructure in impacted communities. We deal with the humanitarian aspect of emergencies and aim to reduce the harmful effects of hazards. We are always prepared to respond in life-saving relief for families, whether that be natural disasters or conflict zones.

Flood Disaster: Flooding is a temporary overflow of water onto land that is normally dry. Floods are the most common natural disaster in Bangladesh. Failing to evacuate flooded areas or entering flood waters can lead to injury or death. Floods in Bangladesh cause outages, disrupt transportation, damage buildings and create landslides.

Rohingya Crisis in Bangladesh: i-volunteers are working in collaboration with local authorities in Bangladesh to provide relief to Rohingya refugees from Myanmar. We assist other NGOs to start installation of water wells and water tanks, and construction of toilets at refugee camps.

Winter Problems: Winter usually is relatively brief in Bangladesh, but brings different sorts of diseases, such as fever, cold, cough, pneumonia and respiratory infections, cold diarrhea, eye inflammation and dermatological problems. These diseases affected more than 538,000 people in Bangladesh in last winter. As many as 61 of them died. Not only diseases, Dense fog hampers road, rail and air traffic for days and vessels on waterways, causing immense sufferings to travelers. Actually, Senior citizens and children are the most affected in winter season, especially in the northern districts. Due to shortage of firewood, poor people such as us cannot keep warm in the evening when temperature falls drastically.

Covid 19 Response: i-volunteers are ensuring that people have access to critical information to know how to protect themselves and their communities from COVID-19 infection. Volunteers are disseminating information to ensure that children and families understand the symptoms of the disease, ways to prevent transmission and where to seek healthcare. i-volunteers helped many daily labors during the lockdown periods by providing them basic foods.
